Local Visibility
How often your business was in the local results when there were any.
Local prompts such as "SEO agency Hamburg" often get a map answer before any text: Google shows a local pack, and Gemini consults Google Maps when it answers. Local Visibility tells you how often your business was in those local results.
The card in Reports has one line per local surface:
- Google local pack — the share of Google runs in which you were in the local pack, out of the runs where Google showed one
- Gemini Maps — the share of Gemini runs in which Gemini's Maps results listed you, out of the runs where it consulted Maps
Runs where Google showed no local pack, or where Gemini did not consult Maps, are not counted against you: there was nothing to be in. That is why the run counts next to each line are usually lower than the total number of runs in the period. The delta compares against the previous period of equal length; it is missing when that surface did not appear in the previous period.
The card only appears when the period contains at least one run with a local pack or a Maps result. Both need a city on the topic: Google Maps results only show up for Gemini when the topic has a city, and the local pack appears far more often when Google searches from a city.
What a low value means
A brand that ranks well organically but is missing from the local pack usually has a Google Business Profile problem, not a content problem: an incomplete or unverified profile, a wrong category, or too few reviews. Compare the local pack line with your regular Visibility Score for the same topic to tell the two apart. The Local presence gap card on the Gap diagnosis tab in Gaps does this per prompt: it lists the prompts where you rank in Google's organic top 10 but are not in the local pack.
Where to dig deeper
- The PDF report — and the Pulse email that carries it — shows the same Local visibility tile under the overview metrics whenever the period had a local pack or Maps result, and the weekly SoV digest lists both shares per brand
- The source dialog in the Prompts table on the Reports page notes when a run had a local pack or Maps result and whether you were in it
- The full result page of a run lists every local pack entry and Maps place, with your own entries marked
- The Local visibility change alert rule tells you when your business enters or drops out of the local pack or the Maps results for a prompt, compared with the previous run that had a local result; the alert opens that run
- The Local presence gap card on the Gap diagnosis tab in Gaps lists the prompts where you rank in Google's organic top 10 but are missing from the local pack, with how often you were in the pack over the period and who was in it instead
- The Local competitors block on the Competitors page lists the businesses that appeared in the local pack or in Gemini's Maps results for your prompts, whether or not AI cited their website, with the share of runs each one appeared in per surface. Businesses you hid via feedback in Gaps stay hidden there too.
